The drive continues past the Athens Trilogy, which includes the University of Athens, the Academy of Athens, and the National Library.

A photo stop is scheduled at the Panathenaic (Kalimarmaro) Stadium, the only stadium in the world built entirely of white marble, where the first revived Olympic Games took place in 1896.

The tour proceeds with a visit to the archaeological site of the Acropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Monument. The Acropolis, meaning “upper city” in Greek, is a symbol not only of Athens but of all Greece. The impressive complex of ancient temples has stood on a sacred rock above the city for over 2,500 years.

The entrance to the Acropolis leads through the famous Propylaea, to the right of which is the small Temple of Athena Nike. At the center stands the majestic Parthenon, the temple dedicated to Athena. On the left side is the Erechtheion with its famous Caryatid Porch.

An experienced guide will provide detailed information about all the sights of the Acropolis. You will also have time to take photos and admire panoramic views of Athens.

Below the Acropolis lies the Theatre of Herodes Atticus, an ancient open-air theater that is still used today for concerts and cultural events.

A sightseeing tour of Athens will introduce you to the city’s most important historical and architectural landmarks, with the highlight being a visit to the magnificent Acropolis. You will experience the unique atmosphere of ancient Athens, where every corner is steeped in history.
